時代箪笥／黒塗庄内衣裳箪笥【Shonai clothing chest】[j1065]　Japanese Antique Furniture

庄内地方の桐の衣裳箪笥。

正面は黒塗りで天板や側面、背面も赤みを帯びた色合いで仕上げられており、重厚感のある金具が映える一棹です。

錠前金具の板部分は充分に厚みがありますが、雲形に切り抜かれた縁周りも丁寧に面が取られており更に立体感を感じさせます。それを留める鋲も菊座のある錺（かざり）鋲。とても手の込んだ作りで、生まれの良い箪笥だということが見て取れます。

特に下段部分の小開きは丁番と錠前、そして縦に走る透かし紋様の金具で飾られており、見ごたえも充分。

木部に至っても状態が良く、小抽斗の奥に小箱が仕込まれており、手の込んだ時代箪笥ならではの愉しさがあります。

上下段を分けて使うことも出来、横並びや別々の場所で使うことも可能で、実用にもインテリアとしても満足のいく箪笥です。

 This is a paulownia chest of drawers from the Shonai region.
The front is black, the top, sides, and back are finished in a reddish hue, and the massive metal fittings give it a luxurious feel.
The plate part of the lock is sufficiently thick, and the cloud-shaped edges are also carefully surfaced, giving it a more three-dimensional feel. The studs that fix it are also decorative studs of chrysanthemum. It is a very elaborate work, and you can see that it is a well-made chest of drawers.

In particular, the small opening at the bottom is decorated with vertical hinges, locks, and openwork metal fittings, making it a sight to behold.

The wood is in good condition and there is a small box in the back of the small drawer, which is a unique feature of this elaborate antique chest.

You can use the top and bottom separately, line them up, or place them in different locations, making this a satisfying chest for both practical and interior purposes.
